Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) is a very real condition that can cause physical and emotional dips in line with the declining weather.
This year however I’m taking a glass half full approach to the changing seasons, and have come up with 5 reasons why we should all welcome Autumn and Winter!
1. 10 weeks til Christmas
Sorry, I don’t mean to fill you with dread but who doesn’t love Christmas? Time off work and plenty of rest and relaxation with loved ones – yes please!
2. Fancy foods
Autumn is the perfect season for crisp, homegrown British apples – so stock up and find yourself a killer Apple Crumble recipe!
Here at Pai HQ we’ve all been inspired by the Great British Bake Off and are going to polish off our culinary skills and pull out some fabulous puds this season.
3. Sensitive skin relief
Cooler temperatures are actually good news for sensitive skin sufferers. Many skin allergies are triggered by heat, so as long as you avoid excess central heating you should find your skin behaves much better at this time of year.
4. Lazy Sundays
When it’s raining outside, take it as a sign that it’s time to treat yourself to a Sunday Beauty Session!
My mini-facial routine consists of a long, deep Cleanse (see my method here), followed by Kukui & Jojoba Bead Skin-Brightening Exfoliator and a few drops of Rosehip BioRegenerate oil to finish. You’ll have super-smooth, soft and supple skin in an instant – it’s the perfect way to prep for the week ahead.
5. Tea time
I love my tea, and at this time of year I find myself drinking more than my fair share!
If you’re an urticaria sufferer like me, Nettle tea is supposed to be great for calming the skin from within. Green tea’s high antioxidant content is great for purifying the skin, while Peppermint tea will help digest all that Apple Crumble…
Is there anything I’ve missed off? What are your favourite things about Autumn and Winter?
