What you need to know about your skin
As we age our sebum production naturally decreases, so mature skin can often become very dry. This can make fine lines more noticeable while also leaving the skin a little dull or lacklustre.
What type of ingredients should I look for in my products?
Replenishing: Very dry and mature skin needs products with a high water content and ‘fatty’ natural oils. Water is driven into the skin to boost hydration levels, while fatty oils like Macadamia help to plump and protect the skin’s moisture barrier, essentially locking hydration in.
Quenching: As well as water, other key actives can help skin retain moisture. Hyaluronic Acid has become a bit of a buzzword in skincare in recent years, and with good reason. It has the amazing ability to hold up to x1,000 times its own weight in water, dramatically improving hydration.
Our latest discovery Black Elder is a natural alternative that encourages the skin to produce its own Hyaluronic Acid by up to 25%, for all of the benefits without any irritation.
Regenerating: As we get older, our cell turnover slows down and skin can appear dull or uneven. Regenerative ingredients like Echium accelerate this process, replacing tired cells with fresh healthy ones, smoothing fine lines and even improving the appearance of dark spots.

Which ingredients should I avoid?
Detergents: Avoid irritating and drying foaming detergents such as Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (SLS), Sodium Laureth Sulphate (SLES), Cocamidopropyl Betaine and Ammonium Laureth Sulphate in all facial and body products.
These strip all of the precious natural oils from your skin, leaving it exposed, dry and more prone to reaction.
Alcohol: Alcohol has a similar effect on the skin – stripping oils and leaving it very dry and unbalanced.
Top Tips
Incorporate some simple facial massage: Simple facial massage can works wonders on lifting, firming and plumping skin. It sounds a lot harder than it is – follow some straight forward movements like these and you’ll notice a difference in no time.
Take an Essential Fatty Acid supplement: Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs) are the building blocks of healthy skin and are essential for optimising cell turnover. As they are powerful anti-inflammatories, they also help protect against the ageing effects of irritation.
Exfoliate regularly: Dry skins tend to shed dead skin cells in clumps or ‘flakes’ rather than individually, so try and exfoliate 2-3 times a week with a gentle exfoliator or muslin cloth. It will help shift dead cells and stimulate circulation to brighten skin tone.
