Gift giving as you well know should not be saved just for Christmas. We like to do it year-round. So if you’ve been lucky enough to get one of our beautiful jade rollers with your Pai order this month, you might be wondering what exactly it does, and how it works.
What is a jade roller?
Made from A grade, non-chemically treated nephrite jade, your pretty roller is a facial massage tool. The reason why they’re made from jade? Jade is a semi-precious stone that has been used in crystal and gemstone healing for thousands of years. The benefits of jade for the body as well for overall health and wellness are believed to range from balancing energy, emotional healing, immune system, kidney and adrenal gland health as well as for its protective qualities.
Jade face roller benefits for the skin
- Unlike our hands, jade stays cool when it rolls across the skin. This is particularly great news for those of us with hot, reactive and easily irritated skin. You might like to keep yours in the fridge for an even cooler facial massage. Even the most sensitive skin gets to enjoy this calming daily ritual.
- By massaging the face, we are actually performing lymphatic drainage. This is key for our body’s ability to naturally detox and an important jade roller benefit.
- Any facial massage – tapping, rolling or manual movement – will get blood flowing beneath the surface. This boosts circulation and moves all that glow-giving, repairing oxygen around too.
- Having a tool on your bathroom shelf will encourage and remind you to take a moment each day for yourself. A soothing, nourishing ritual like facial massage can be a powerful way to help reduce stress and anxiety too.
How to use a jade roller
Firstly, the good news is that you can’t overdo it. So feel free to use your jade roller as often as you like, for as long as you like. If you have time, try to use it for a minute every morning and evening.
We recommend you start each rolling movement from the point just between your eyebrows. Then gently roll back and forth 3-5 times from there outwards to the hairline.
When you want to roll with a bit more pressure to release any tension – do so on the upwards strokes. This way you’re working with the facial muscles rather than against them.
Don’t forget your jawline too. For this area, begin at your chin and roll along the jaw to where it meets your ears, then continue down this natural groove to your neck.
How a jade roller works with your routine
Morning: Use your roller on clean skin, without any products. This will wake up skin perfectly before you apply your moisturiser.
Evening: You might like to use your roller with products at the end of the day when you’re less likely to be in a rush! Once you’ve cleansed skin thoroughly, apply your serum or facial oil as normal. Then, you’ll do your facial massage. Each evening, make sure to clean your roller with water and a towel to remove any product that might be left behind.
Remember, if you’re stocking up on skincare this month, you’ll get your very own free jade roller with every order over £80, while stocks last.
