The pre-wedding skincare guide

With wedding season in full swing, it’s time to start thinking about prepping your complexion for the big day.

Whether you’re a guest or the blushing bride this summer, a radiant, healthy complexion is always on the wish list!

Unfortunately, the stress of pre-wedding jitters and event organisation can easily be the catalyst for a skin meltdown.

Here’s a list of common pre-wedding skin complaints and our action plans of how to tackle them…

Problem: Breakouts

Firstly, step away from the mirror! Of course, it’s tempting – but picking, prodding or poking blemishes will only make them worse.

Interfering with a breakout increases inflammation and redness. It also drives the infection deeper and increases the risk of scarring.

Action plan: Steer clear of refined sugar (it increases inflammation) and drink plenty of water. Calm an irritated, uncomfortable breakout with our Copaiba Deep Cleanse AHA Mask – it gently exfoliates skin whilst drawing out impurities and cooling the skin. Follow with an application of our Copaiba & Zinc Blemish Serum – it can be used all over the face or as an on the spot treatment – instantly reducing redness and inflammation.

At night, use 2-3 drops of our Rosehip BioRegenerate Oil. It’s packed with omegas and antioxidants, which help repair and condition skin – preventing against scarring and healing any damage to the skin’s surface.

Problem: Flare-up

Caterers, seating plans, flowers or simply choosing what to wear can all raise our stress levels, which is a common trigger for conditions ranging from urticaria to eczema.

Action plan: Scale down the number of products you’re using immediately – even if you know why your skin is reacting. Keep things simple and stick to just using your Cleanser and Moisturiser.

As with a breakout, avoid refined sugar. It’s one of the quickest ways to reduce inflammation in your body. Try and adhere to a slightly alkaline diet if you can – incorporating lots of leafy greens such as spinach, kale and soothing foods.

Problem: Dull skin

Something you don’t want for any occasion – let alone a summer wedding!

Action Plan: If you have a couple of days until the big day, start by tweaking your diet. Make sure you’re avoiding processed foods or anything that’s too salty as it can cause water retention and bloating.

Pack your meals with vitamin-rich foods and plenty of brightly coloured fruit & veg. We particularly love cramming in carotenoids, such as butternut squash and melon – they’re brilliant for boosting radiance.

For an instant skin-pick me up, reach for our Kukui & Jojoba Bead Skin Brightening Exfoliator.

The perfectly spherical beads roll over the surface of the skin, gently removing dead skin and other impurities without damaging or tearing the skin.

Follow this with 2-3 drops of Rosehip BioRegenerate Oil, and you’ll be greeted by a glowing, dewy complexion when you wake up on the big day!
