The low down on Small Business Saturday

As I’m sure you’ve noticed, Black Friday is kind of a big deal this year.

Once strictly a stateside phenomenon, the biggest shopping day of the year has been embraced by the rest of the world and got us all stocking up on gifts and goodies ahead of Christmas.

While Black Friday and Cyber Monday (coming next week – the biggest online shopping day of the year) may be on your radar, Small Business Saturday may not.

Officially coined in 2010, it falls on the Saturday after Thanksgiving (today), and encourages shoppers to favour smaller or local producers over the mega-brands and big store chains.

As the founder of a now not-so-small business, I absolutely love the idea of celebrating all the incredible creative and quality smaller brands out there!

Whether they be artisanal producers or creative start-ups, buying from a small brand can really help give your Christmas gifts that unique or extra special touch this year.

For us, being a smaller brand means being able to pour love into each and every product and interaction with all of our amazing customers.

To celebrate, we’ll be joining other small businesses and tweeting with the #SmallBusinessSaturday today.
