Seasonal skincare swaps

Sarah Brown is the founder of Pai Skincare. Entrepreneur, mum and sensitive-skinned soul.

As with all things in nature, our skin changes with the seasons.

Varying temperatures, moisture levels and sun exposure all have to be adapted to and supported by our skincare products.

Failure to listen to your skin’s ever-changing needs can throw the skin out of balance, causing increased sensitivity, dryness or breakouts.

We’re not talking major overhauls here – just the odd adjustment to keep your seasonal skin in check!

To help work out where you might need to alter your regime, here’s how my current summer skincare plan differs from my winter choices.

WINTER REGIME                                                                SUMMER REGIME

Chamomile & Rosehip Sensitive Skin Cream  Geranium & Thistle Combination Cream

In summer you may need a lighter moisturiser with less fatty oils, as the skin better retains moisture thanks to higher humidity levels.

I have a classic combination complexion, so use Geranium & Thistle Combination Skin Cream as it absorbs instantly and sits well under make-up.

In winter I move to our Chamomile & Rosehip Sensitive Skin Creamwhich is slightly more nourishing and has more soothing properties.

My urticaria tends to be worse in the cooler months making me more prone to itchy flare-ups.

WINTER REGIME                                                      SUMMER REGIME

Rosehip BioRegenerate Oil for the face → Rosehip BioRegenerate Oil for the body.

Rosehip Biogenerate Oil is an amazing multi-tasker! In winter when my skin is feeling parched from central heating, I like to apply 2-3 drops to my face in the evening.

In summer I also massage this oil onto dry legs, or add a couple of drops to my Comfrey & Calendula Calming Body Cream – especially if I’ve been in the sun. It repairs and regenerates any damaged areas and conditions the skin beautifully.

Fragonia & Sea Buckthorn Hand Therapy → Comfrey & Calendula Calming Body Cream

If you love the intensively hydrating and skin-soothing properties of our Fragonia & Sea Buckthorn Instant Hand Therapy Cream in the winter, then the Comfrey & Calendula Calming Body Cream is a must for all-over care in the warmer months when we tend to have more skin on show!

I apply it daily after I’ve showered to lock-in moisture and keep skin smooth and supple.

Powerful anti-inflammatories in Comfrey and Calendula also make this cream suitable for those who suffer with aggravated skin conditions such as eczema or psoriasis.

So, how do you ensure that your skin is prepped come rain or shine? Any top tips on how you customise your own routine to suit your skin’s needs? I’d love to hear them!
