Professionals love Pai: A chat with Make-Up Artist Lisa Valencia

Sarah Brown is the founder of Pai Skincare. Entrepreneur, mum and sensitive-skinned soul – trying to find time to practice more of what she preaches…

To celebrate London Fashion Week I met up with one of our favourite Make-Up Artists Lisa Valencia to find out how she uses Pai products to achieve picture-perfect looks.

As well as photo-shoots for Vogue and Elle, Lisa also regularly works with well-known beauties such as Natalie Imbruglia, Chloe Moretz and Yasmin Le Bon. Here goes….

What’s your favourite Pai product?

My all time favourite Pai product is the Rosehip BioRegenerate Oil.

I’m a huge fan of using oils on my face & body, and this one wins hands down. It’s perfect for sensitive skin, and contains the most amazing organic ingredients like vitamin A, and omegas 3,6,7&9.

I fly a lot for my job, and use this before I take-off to keep my skin hydrated. I also spend a lot of time working in the sun, and the oil helps repair any damaged skin. If I’m working with an actress or celebrity, I always apply a few drops prior to doing their make-up to give them a healthy glow.’

How do you use Pai to create a flawless look on camera?

When preparing a models face for a photoshoot, one of the most important factors is to prep the skin and ensure a glossy, camera-ready look.

I start by applying a gentle toner like Pai Rice Plant & Rosemary BioAffinity Tonic, which helps cleanse & calm the skin, and then apply a moisturiser with a foundation brush.

I love Avocado & Jojoba Hydrating Day Cream – it’s not too heavy to sit under foundation but leaves the skin looking well moisturised. Using a foundation brush really helps work the cream into the skin, and means that my foundation glides on smoothly & leaves a professional finish.’

What are your top make-up tips for creating a natural beauty look?

A natural beauty is all about enhancing your best features. I like to keep the skin as natural as possible – try mixing a little Pai moisturiser with your favourite foundation. It’s like making your own tinted moisturiser, and lets your skin shine through whilst evening out the skin tone.

Apply a cream blush to the apples of your cheeks for a rosy glow, and fill in your brows with a shadow that is a shade lighter than the hair for a natural look. If you prefer a bit of colour – one of my favourite looks is finished with a bright statement lip. All glossy skin, natural eyes and poppy lips – perfect!’
