My number one tip for pregnancy

Sarah Brown is the founder of Pai Skincare. Entrepreneur, mum and sensitive-skinned soul.

Relaunching our Pomegranate & Pumpkin Seed Stretch Mark System this week and rewatching the video (and my bulging belly!) got me reminiscing about my two pregnancies – and thinking a little about what I might have done differently.

‘Falling pregnant’ is a momentous time in a woman’s life, but I’ve always thought it a daft figure of speech; implying a sort of ‘blink and you’re pregnant’ immaculate affair.

For many (in fact, most) it’s a much longer road; a marathon, getting to ‘B Day’ and holding your baby in your arms for the first time.

Struggles with conception and miscarriage are sadly far too common, and a source of heartache that no one can fully comprehend until they’re in it.

So, it’s no wonder that when many of us do finally get pregnant, it can come with a monumental pile of worries that permeates those 10 nail-biting months. Yes, 10, not 9; don’t be fooled!

Every twinge fills you with fear and you spend every spare minute consulting Dr Google and navel-gazing, wondering what on earth is happening in there.

If I could impart one piece of advice, I’d say ‘relax’. What will be, will be.  What’s happening is nothing short of a little miracle; so view it through this magical prism.

Stress less, sleep more. Lie-in with the Sunday papers, go to the cinema, play the music you love most and sing to your unborn child.

Focus on only the things that matter and be kind to your body…because it’s working really hard!

Most of all, enjoy the ride because pregnancy is nothing short of extraordinary.
