My take on Organic Hair Care

One thing we’re asked about a lot over on the Customer Service desk is organic hair care – whether we’ll ever make our own range, which brands we rate, and top tips for keeping hair clean, soft and shiny.

While I’m not a hair care expert (and don’t plan on venturing into the industry any time soon!), I do have a wealth of personal experience to share on the subject.

Ever since I developed Urticaria over 10 years ago, I have experimented with various natural and organic products in a bid to avoid irritating foaming ingredients like Sodium-Lauryl-Sulfate (SLS).

Many trials and tribulations later (flakey scalp anyone?), I’ve finally found a few brands that I’m happy to repurchase and recommend.

Save: Bentley Organics do a great range of organic hair care if you’re on a budget. Their products are gentle, effective and Soil Association certified – so you can trust that there’s no nasty ingredients hidden in there.

Splurge: If you’re looking to spend a little more to keep your hair in tip-top condition, the John Masters range really delivers fantastic results.

Style: Natulique is an Ecocert-certified range that offers great permanent colours and promises professional results, naturally.

I have to say in my experience it’s been much more difficult to get that same clean, fluffy feeling with organic haircare – but for me, and many sensitive-skinned women like me, the pros definitely outweigh the cons.

One Top Hair Care Tip I do have to share involves an alternative use for our new Royal Jasmine & May Chang Replenishing Body Oil.

Massage 2-3 drops of the luxurious oil blend into damp hair ends to prevent them looking and feeling dry or damaged.

The ultra-high Omega content deeply-conditions hair for a healthy, soft and neat finish – the smell is divine too!
