Is Hemp oil the best Essential Fatty Acid supplement?

In case you haven’t read this blog before (and therefore missed my countless references), I’m a HUGE fan of Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs).

The skin benefits of Omegas 3,6 & 9 are endless. They are the building blocks of healthy skin, and help maintain the natural barrier that locks moisture in.

They are also powerful anti-inflammatories that calm, soothe and improve conditions like eczema and acne from the inside out.

You can imagine then how interested I was when the lovely Nikki from Nutricentre revealed Hemp oil as the best EFA supplement around.

According to Nikki, the perfect balance of Omegas 3,6 & 9 is 2:1:1, as this is the ratio in which they are found naturally in human cells.

Many EFA supplements are blended to reach this golden ratio, but Hemp oil naturally contains the Omegas in these proportions.

As they are all from one source, the body metabolises the Omegas in Hemp oil more readily, and so reaps more of its skin benefits.

Nikki also pointed out that according to Chinese medicine, Flaxseed oil, an alternative EFA supplement, is a ‘warm’ food while Hemp oil is a ‘cold’ food.

The Chinese school of thought asserts that you can holistically remedy illnesses or conditions by ingesting the opposite energy.

For example, eczema and urticaria are triggered by heat and are hot to the touch – in fact the word ‘eczema’ literally translates from Greek ‘to boil over’. The ‘cooling’ powers of Hemp oil combat flares by calming and soothing the skin, restoring balance to the body.

Have any other Essential Fatty Acid fanatics out there heard this about Hemp?  If so we’d love to hear your comments!
