International Women’s Day (IWD – 8th March), the global celebration of the social, economic, cultural and political achievement of women, has come around again.
As always there’s much to celebrate. It’s an opportunity for us to reflect on everything we’ve achieved – but also to consider how far we have to go.
This year’s focus is on gender parity, particularly as progress has begun to slow. The World Economic Forum now predicts it will take until 2133 for genders to be paid the same…for doing the same job!
Here at Pai, we’re well represented by women and, at the time of writing, your favourite Pai product is manufactured entirely by women!
We strive for a fair deal for everyone, but we believe there’s always more we can do to make sure everyone has the same opportunities – both within and beyond our company.
One of the ways we can make a difference is to help more women reach leadership roles.
Our pledge for parity is to help women and girls achieve their ambitions and strive to improve the gender-balance in leadership roles.
Last year Pai founder, Sarah, worked with a mentoring programme called Founders4Schools, an organisation that invites business founders into schools to inspire pupils to start their own businesses.
The aim is one of encouraging girls to explore science, engineering and technology subjects at school with a view to careers in manufacturing.
This year Sarah will be supporting the launch of CEW’s Young Executive programme.
The scheme aims to get more women involved in leadership roles within the beauty industry, providing access to industry events and with a strong focus on mentorship.
Here’s to supporting women to make a difference! Let us know how you’ll be celebrating.
