How to prolong your holiday glow

Sarah Brown is the founder of Pai Skincare. Entrepreneur, mum and sensitive-skinned soul.

For many of us, a holiday isn’t a holiday unless you come back with a sun-kissed glow to show for it!

If you’ve just returned from abroad and are basking in your Summer skin, here are my top tips for keeping hold of it well into Autumn.

Exfoliate

It may seem counter-intuitive but exfoliating can really help extend your tan. Sloughing off the dead skin cells at the surface will help to keep your colour even and encourage healthy cell renewal.

Exfoliating mitts work well but I suffer from dermographism so can find them too abrasive. A good alternative is our muslin cloths which give a more gentle all-over buff.

Moisturise, moisturise, moisturise

Sun exposure can really dry out the skin, so make sure you rehydrate with a super nourishing body cream like our Comfrey & Calendula Calming Body Cream.  (Top Tip: This product is a GREAT after-sun too).

Body oils are also good for extra conditioning but creams contain the all-important water so are best at alleviating extreme dryness.

Slather with reckless abandon.

Fake the glow

When all else fails (or fades!) you can always rely on faking it!

Fake tan can be tough on sensitive skin as it contains DHA, but a mineral bronzer is a more skin-kind alternative.

Buff over the skin in a circular motion with a Kabuki brush and remember to wash off before you go to bed!  Perhaps not all that practical for everyday use but certainly an option for a night out or special occasion!
