5 must-see places in London over the holidays

Make the most of the capital’s magical festivities

We’re starting to feel very festive at Pai HQ. The halls are decked and the holiday tunes are on repeat.

London is such a jolly place to be for the holidays, and there are so many festive happenings that it’s hard to pick just a few. But here goes – our top five outings to get you in the spirit of the season.

Walking in a Winter Wonderland

Christmas just wouldn’t be the same in London without a stroll through Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park. And this year’s celebration looks bigger and brighter than ever.

You’ll find cute little wooden cabins selling warming Bavarian treats, glühwein (of course) and arty makes. Plus there’s ice skating, festive fairground rides and grottos.

Not forgetting the iconic wheel where you can take time to relax and enjoy some peace from above.

Skating at the Natural History Museum

Gliding (or sliding) along the capital’s most enchanting Christmas ice rink has become a bit of a Christmas classic. With the beautiful backdrop of the Alfred Waterhouse buildings and the magnificent Christmas tree in the middle, you can’t help but feel full of festive cheer.

Better still, Hotel Chocolat will be serving up some luxurious hot chocolates this year.

Escaping to an Alpine bar

Step into Archer Street Alpine bar and you’ll soon be transported to an Alpine ski lodge.

Cosy up next to the fire, put your feet up on a fur-lined lounger and settle down to a festive cocktail.

The Piste Bar is a perfect wintry escape. As well as a great antidote to the frenzy of Christmas shoppers, it’s also the next best thing to hitting the slopes for real.

Silent Discoing at the Shard

If you’re looking to blow off some steam, get your dancing shoes on and head to Silent Disco at the Top of the Shard.

It’s not only the best view in town (ideal for checking out the city’s lovely array of lights), but you get to dance your socks off to a choice of pop, rock or party classics.

Meandering around Hampstead Heath

Blow away the cobwebs, pull on your boots and fill your lungs with some crisp air on a brisk walk around Hampstead heath. Don’t forget to climb up Parliament Hill, London’s highest point, for some breathtaking city views.

To make it even more magical, be sure to refuel at a proper cosy Christmas pub like The Stag or The Holly Bush for a festive mulled wine, and some obligatory dog spotting.
