Extreme Beauty: Would you have a Placenta Facial?

Sarah Brown is the founder of Pai Skincare. Entrepreneur, mum and sensitive-skinned soul.

Yes you read correctly, a Placenta Facial – according to this Sunday’s STYLE magazine they’re all the rage!

The process, which involves first traumatising the skin with micro-dermabrasion or chemical-peel treatments and then topically applying sterile placental extract, is said to be popular with the likes of Victoria Beckham and Simon Cowell.

The result, says practitioner Dr Harold Lancer, is skin that appears lifted with fewer fine lines.

While other treatments may deliver similar results, Dr Phillippe Allouche, who also uses animal ingredients, believes celebs are drawn to the controversial Facial because “there is a part of them that loves something a bit naughty, like a secret”.

As the owner of a brand that is both Vegan-friendly and BUAV approved, the process of harvesting placenta from organic sheep and goats (previously it was from Russian women!) seems incredibly unsavoury to me.

But what do you think? Would you have a Placenta Facial?

Will it be the latest beauty trend, or just a momentary fad?
