Do I need an eye cream?

At Pai, we tend to err on the side of simplicity – unless we’re talking about our coffee orders! So our response can vary when customers ask about adding additional steps to their routine.

One of the most common questions we receive is ‘Do I need an Eye Cream?’

The facts

The skin that surrounds our eyes is extremely thin and it doesn’t contain any sebaceous (oil) glands. This means it’s more prone to dehydration and fine lines.

Using an eye cream rich in nourishing and anti-inflammatory ingredients such as Essential Fatty Acids and Echium can help to hydrate and support this delicate area – and prevent these fine lines appearing prematurely.

It’s a delicate balance

If you’ve ever experienced itchy, stinging or watering eyes, you’ll know just how sensitive our eyes can be. If you’re investing in an eye cream, it’s key to choose one free from irritating ingredients such as alcohol and artificial fragrance.

Our Echium & Argan Gentle Eye Cream is suitable for easily irritated eyes, with Stearidonic and Gamma Linolenic acids to soothe and smooth fine lines.

Our nourishing formula is incredibly light – but eye cream is one of the most over-applied products so remember less is more! Applying too much product to this sensitive region can cause puffiness and milia.

How to apply

For best results, we recommend applying half a pump to both eyes in the morning after spritzing a Tonic and then applying a Day Cream to the rest of the face.

Dot the cream along the top of the cheekbones and allow the eye area to draw the cream upwards, absorbing exactly the right amount of hydration it needs.

For an extra treat, and to stimulate the skin around the eye, try lightly massaging the cream into the skin by tracing around the orbital bone (the bony area that circles your eye) with your ring finger.

If you have the odd patch of eczema or dry skin around the eye area our Echium & Argan Eye Cream is ideal as it is rich in inflammatory and non-irritating ingredients.  Simply apply a thin layer of cream to the affected area.

Whether you’re using Eye Cream or not – we’d always recommend wearing sunglasses, hat & SPF when in direct sunlight to avoid sun damage and squinting!
