5 tips for beautiful skin this Winter

We all know winter can take its toll on our skin, but while we’re busy nourishing, strengthening and protecting our faces against the elements, it’s important not to forget about our bodies too.

For those experiencing sensitive skin, in particular, cool temperatures, rampant central heating and irritating fabrics can mean much more uncomfortable skin at this time of year.

Here are my top five tips for staying body Beautiful this season:

1. Avoid overheating the skin

While you might crave a long hot soak, try and avoid washing in overly hot water as it causes the lipids in the skin to break down. Lipids are the essential fats responsible for helping the skin retain moisture, so without them, skin becomes dry, itchy and irritable.

2. Step-up hydration

Hydration is the key to soft, soothed and smooth skin. Remember hydration can only be achieved with a Cream, so massage Comfrey & Calendula Calming Body Cream into the skin after every shower.

Its powerful anti-inflammatory properties help heal and relieve sensitive skin. They also make this the perfect lotion for post-shaven (or unshaven) legs!

3. Dry skin brushing

By stimulating blood flow and regeneration, dry skin brushing helps keep your healthiest, brightest and freshest skin cells at the surface. Move in circular motions, towards the heart for best effect. Avoid tough or scratchy bristles if your skin is particularly sensitive.

4. Deep Condition

Combine a Cream’s hydration with the deep-conditioning effects of an Oil for the ultimate Body Beautiful skin treatment.

Rich in essential Omega 3, 6, 7 & 9, plus antioxidant carotenoids, our Rosehip BioRegenerate Oil repairs and regenerates the skin, locking in moisture for a long-lasting silky smooth finish. Try adding a few drops into your Body Cream

5. Drink Up

Warm weather in summer means we consciously drink lots of water, but in winter keeping hydrated can often slip our minds.

If you’re struggling to keep up, try eating water-rich foods such as soups and stews, or cutting out caffeine and replacing your coffee with herbal teas and hot lemon water. As well as keeping skin supple, they’ll also help flush out toxins for a clear, healthy and vibrant complexion.
