Keeping your routine simple

Why your skin will thank you for it

It’s easy to fall into the trap of heaping on skincare products in the hope of finding a solution.

But chopping and changing your routine, or regularly overloading your skin with too many products can throw your skin even more off balance, particularly if you have sensitive skin. And you’ll probably see extra flare-ups, break-outs or dryness too.

If it feels like your skin is a little out of control, it’s a good idea to pare back your routine for a while. Here are some pointers to get you started.

Keep it simple

When your skin is feeling uncomfortable, a two or three step routine is all that’s needed. Plus, the shorter the routine, the easier it is to stick to!

Try the basic Cleanse, Tone and Moisturise routine morning and night. Or Moisturise in the morning. Then in the evening, give your skin a thorough Cleanse followed by Facial Oil.

It’s about finding a routine that works for you and making it a habit.

Steps you can skip

Facial wash

If you’ve given your face a good cleanse at night, your skin will still be clean and fresh in the morning. Over-cleansing can dry out the skin. This prompts the skin to produce more oil and can cause an oily complexion.

Instead of reaching for the facial wash, simply splash your face with warm water and give it a light massage to wake up the skin.

Double Cleansing

Opting for a double cleanse to remove makeup? Don’t be tempted to throw too many products at your skin. Makeup removers often contain sulphates, alcohols and synthetic fragrances that can leave skin tight and irritated – even if you follow them with a gentle cleanser.

Use a smaller amount of your regular cleanser again for a second cleanse, or use coconut oil to breakdown eye makeup before you cleanse.

Exfoliator

Choose an ultra-gentle exfoliator, like our Kukui & Jojoba Bead Skin Brightening Exfoliator, which lifts away dead skin cells without irritation. Keep things simple and exfoliate once a week, or less if you feel that’s right for you.
