DIY natural mask for dry & fragile hair

Pre-summer, (assuming it ever arrives in the UK!) it’s an excellent idea to try and get your hair into tip-top condition.

The combined assault of sun, sea and sand can leave it parched and tricky to manage. Transforming the condition of your tresses before you hit the beach is the best way to protect them.

We’re lovers of a good DIY project here at Pai HQ, especially if it involves beautifying ourselves with a host of natural ingredients!

Our DIY hair mask is a great addition to your routine if you’ve got a spare 20 minutes – perhaps whilst you soak in the bath, or are indulging in a pampering evening. Timing-wise, we find it’s perfect to pop on while we’re using one of our Treatment Masks!

DIY Hair Mask

You’ll need:

Scoop of coconut oil

Half an avocado

Two spoonfuls of natural yoghurt

A spoonful of honey

Directions:

  1. Combine the ingredients in a bowl (try not to eat – we can vouch for the fact that it looks and tastes delicious!)
  2. Apply to dry hair, massaging it through and ensuring full coverage.
  3. Leave the formula to do its magic for 20-30 minutes. For an added boost, try wrapping some cling film around your hair. This avoids dripping and also keeps your head warm – the slight rise in temperature makes the mask penetrate your tresses all the more effectively.
  4. Rinse, shampoo and condition as usual.

Top tip: Moments before you step out of the shower – rinse your hair under the coldest temperature you can bear. A blast of icy water closes the cuticles and seal in all the goodness of your mask – making hair extra moisturised, happy and healthy.

It’s a momentary shock, but your tresses will thank you for their extra shine!
