The greens you need to know about…

Green is most definitely the colour of the moment, with green juices, supplements and smoothies popping all over my social media feeds!

Packed full of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants, green vegetables are some of the most nutritionally dense foods on the planet.

If you want to up your green intake but don’t know where to start, read my chat with the NutriCentre‘s resident expert Lorna Driver-Davies…

It can be hard to get enough green vegetables in our diet, even if we are focused on making sure they feature in each main meal.

If we want extra immune, heart, skin, hair, nails, energy, hormonal and detoxification support (plus other benefits!) then getting even more greens through a green food product makes practical sense.

Here’s my pick of the top green supplements:

1. Dr Schulze’s Superfood Plus

This nutrient dense food powder contains all the beneficial seaweeds and land grasses – such as chlorella, spirulina, wheatgrass and barley grass but also a ‘rainbow’ selection of skin supporting fruits and vegetables.

Add this to a morning smoothie as a great wake up to the day – since the greens also contain B vitamins to support energy and vitality.

2. Sun Chlorella

This is a premier chlorella product and the most famously used brand in Japan.

Japanese women use it as a health supplement but also take it daily for beauty.

Chlorella contains a unique compound called CGF (chlorella growth factor) which encourages growth and healing – a perfect combination to support skin prone to blemishes and helping to reduce scarring.

Start with 3-5 tiny tablets in the morning with breakfast and over 2 weeks, work up to 10 – 15 tiny tablets a day (they are small, so easy to swallow).

3. Clean Greens by Pukka Herbs

This product also contains all the seaweeds and land grass greens that are really beneficial but the added features on this occasion are herbs, including parsley – a natural diuretic.

There is also added fennel, ginger and peppermint to support healthy digestion.

If you digest your food better you will of course get more out of what you eat in terms of nutrients to benefit skin, hair and nails.”

Are there any green supplements you swear by? I’d love to hear about them!
