Why a Cream and Oil is best in the battle against Stretch Marks

One of the things that makes our new Pomegranate & Pumpkin Seed Stretch Mark System so unique is that it combines two essential forms of nourishment: a Cream and an Oil.

While most women usually opt for one or other product, leading London skincare expert Paul Banwell explains why it’s best to double-up:

The key to Stretch Mark prevention and treatment is to understand the need to hydrate the skin for optimum tissue repair and vitality and keep the skin soft and supple.

This unique approach of integrating the duality of a cream for skin hydration and speciality oils with antioxidant effects is very exciting.”

So, what’s the difference between a Cream and Oil?

Creams and Oils deliver very different benefits to the skin.

Creams, a mixture or ’emulsion’ of fats and water, are able to hydrate skin thanks to their very high water content (typically 60-80%).

Stand-alone Oils, conversely, do not contain any water, so cannot hydrate the skin (despite what many beauty brands claim)!

They are however great for nourishing and deep-conditioning the skin, as they contain concentrated levels of essential fatty acids and antioxidants.

The perfect skin care regime would therefore combine both a Cream and Oil – ideally applying the former in the morning and the latter in the evening. This approach is particularly important for skin that is under strain or in the case of pregnancy, stretch!

Alternating the two types of product is the best way to keep skin hydrated, well-conditioned and protected.

The more supple and elastic skin is, the more likely it will stretch and bounce back into shape without showing signs of damage.
